Moving to France, or staying long-term, while on a GLP-1 medication? Good news first: France has some of the lowest regulated GLP-1 prices in the world, and since June 2026 the national health insurance even reimburses 65% of Wegovy and Mounjaro for eligible patients. Here is how the French system actually works, written for English speakers.
Unlike the United States, medication prices in France are set by the government (CEPS). Every pharmacy in the country charges exactly the same price — there is no shopping around, no coupons, no pharmacy markup:

Since June 15, 2026, French national health insurance covers 65% of Wegovy and Mounjaro for obesity under strict conditions: BMI ≥ 40, or BMI ≥ 35 with a weight-related comorbidity (type 2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea…), after 6 months of documented nutritional care, and the initial reimbursed prescription must come from a specialist obesity center (CSO/CHU) — your GP can then renew it. You need to be affiliated with French social security (carte Vitale). If you are not (yet) in the system, you pay the regulated price out of pocket — which is still a fraction of US prices.
